Signal Theory & John Deere
When most people think of agriculture, a familiar picture comes to mind. Usually someone working in the field. Corn and wheat. Tractors and dirt. And more often than not, the person doing that work is a man. It’s that decades-old stereotype that spurred the thinking behind our initial spot celebrating women in agriculture. With this followup spot, we wanted to continue to dispel that stereotype, while broadening the definition of agriculture to include all fields such as manufacturing, engineering and aerospace. Since the spot itself was about dreaming big, it was important that we conveyed that in a way that felt native to the concept. To accomplish that, we utilized Unreal Engine Technology to create virtual environments that captured a sense of wonder and imagination. That technology wasn’t just a creative benefit either, it was a logistical one that allowed us to get 14 different shots in a variety of “locations” all in one day. Something that would’ve been impossible through conventional methods. In the end, the spot helped to reinforce that John Deere isn’t just about making equipment and technology, but making a difference. The hope is that with more representation, comes more women in agriculture. And with that, comes a better world for us all.
